notes inspired by shaz & shima
Upon the love of Shaz and Shima was a warm morning sky, thick spells of wool-like clouds fumbling toward the west. Us ladies nestled in the loft of the mountain chalet, steaming Shima’s dress while she wrote her vows, eyeing the gentlemen’s cabin not far down the hill. Soon we gathered on the overlook, pinching ourselves at the landscape. Not long after we were rising for Shima’s entrance and listened to the way their love formed, deepened, and continues to expand such as the mountains behind the arbor. Just as they began sharing their vows, the clouds opened and spread a beautiful veil of light over us. They closed up again after the ceremony was over. Shaz and Shima greeted their closest friends and family, intentionally connecting with everyone. Then they danced. A heartfelt, playful waltz which echoed their personalities perfectly. As dinner commenced, it began to rain. The distant mountains were a blurry hue of indigo, a sight of glory as words of grace were spoken over the couple. We cried. Laughed. Ate. Thought “what beauty, what love” in one form or another. Then we danced together, first indoors while the rain passed then outdoors to stomp in what it left behind. The light glowed through once more in the last half hour of day. Dancing went through sunset with a short break for fresh dipping dots, no break for portraits, and what joy that brought. I checked in as I usually do during golden hour and Shaz kindly said “I think she wants to dance with her friends.” It was the way of love to let be. A valuable lesson I always seem to learn. I cannot fabricate moments of beauty, they just happen upon us the exact way they’re meant to. What a privilege to be a witness.
